Investigating the Effectiveness of Korean Dramas with English Subtitles on the English Language Competence of Students

This research focused on students’ English language competence in watching Korean dramas with subtitles. It investigated the advantages and disadvantages of subtitles learning terms proficiency, reading speed English, communication skills, comprehension. study used qualitative utilizing a narrative approach to analyze Senior high school students Negros Occidental National High School who were enrolled for Academic year 2022-2023. The participants chosen using purposeful sampling. Meanwhile, data thematically analyzed recursive textual analysis guided by three C’s Lichtman. findings indicated that student's has both disadvantages, such as flashing up too quickly occasionally pausing drama being watched. Moreover, results also show have influenced their new vocabulary words, reading, comprehension, proficiency.
